The format is to maintain one conversation with questions from the Group or Host.

What technologies could drive post-lockdown economic recovery?

Whilst the UK economy as a whole has suffered a historic contraction during lock-down, technology has undoubtedly mitigated what could have been far worse impacts. But what are the technologies and innovations that will drive the economic recovery from here? We'll have an open discussion, considering for example:

  • More of the same established 'home-based' tech - from video calling to virtual dates - or will these all drop back when face-to-face interactions can resume?
  • New and emerging innovations in delivering online services, perhaps prompted by the needs of lock-down, for example in fintech or online learning.
  • New foundational technologies, such as improved machine learning, quantum computing, etc.
  • Medical innovations now that the threat of this and possibly other pandemics has been realised.
